Fiji Firewalkers

Fun FIJI! - Captivating Music and Images
Narrated by Grammy award-winner Paul Horn, FIJI FIREWALKERS explores Fiji's people, land and culture, with a special emphasis on the legendary firewalkers of Beqa Island. The program captures the voices of the Fijian people and the sights and sounds of their Pacific homeland. Rich in colorful, vibrant music and cultural tradition, FIJI FIREWALKERS chronicles the origin of a Polynesian people whose civilization dates back to 700 B.C. Ancient pottery-making techniques are still used today, as well as a village-wide fishing drive and kava and firewalking ceremonies. The music is still running in my head - uplifting and fun!

Not worth $22 !
This was a disappointment, but I was able to use it somewhat with my class. Basically it looks like someone's home movies!! The singing /dancing goes on too long and I was hoping there would be more of an explaination about the myth and why the men of Beqa practice firewalking. The best part in terms of educational use was the scene on the fish drive. Really charging US$22 for this is highway robbery! -- CB
